___We routinely navigate a world that is teeming with potentially stressful evaluative situations such as job interviews, performance reviews, high stakes tests, or even discussing current events with friends and family. To better understand how social stressors impact our lives the Social Stress Laboratory (SSL) under the direction of Jeremy Jamieson seeks to elucidate the psychological and physiological processes that that shape decisions, emotions, and performance.
To answer research questions, we take a we take a method approach that includes autonomic (e.g. cardiovascular) and neuroendocrine physiology, eye tracking, and implicit behavioral tasks. Research by members of the SSL has two primary foci:
1. Examining the effects of stress on performance
and decision outcomes, and
2. Developing methods to improve acute stress
responses.
